I am just a girl, sitting in front of a keyboard sharing my thoughts….

I have been in the fitness field for many, many years!  Fitness is a very important piece of the wellness pie, but there are so many other aspects to discover.  For me, though it was the window into which I came into health.

I realized I wanted to make a change when I got a scale just before college…. I had not been on a scale since I weighed 138 lbs. So I was unpleasantly surprised that I was now 198 lbs. I knew deep down that I actually knew exactly how it had happened, but I somehow let myself live in denial for many years.

The good thing was that I was going away to college, and I would be in a new environment, I would be surrounded by different people, and going to school for something I loved doing!

My 1st step towards a healthier self was to eat a salad everyday at one of my meals. There was a salad bar in the cafeteria and even though it was mostly iceberg lettuce, a slice of tomato, lots of ranch dressing with these lo mein chinese noodles (which were basically crackers)....It was a step in the right direction!  Shifting this teeny tiny thing then led to other healthier choices.  By the end of my 1st year of college I had lost 30 lbs.  Then I began exercising regularly (this is a story for another blog).

We can make small tiny little shifts, that consistency can lead to great big changes!
